Sunday, December 22nd, 2013 - Evening Weather Discussion

Temperatures will start to cool off starting now and will continue to cool off through tomorrow night.  We will then have a chance at a dusting of snow on Tuesday afternoon as Lake Effect snow showers off the Great Lakes will develop and bands of them are likely to make it into our area on Tuesday afternoon.  There is a possibility that there could be enough to whiten the ground as temperatures will be very cold in the upper atmosphere, so even a tiny bit of precipitation could lead to a dusting of snow.  Then it will be cold but dry for Christmas Day.  Then on Thursday afternoon and night there will be a chance of a little light snow from a developing storm system off the coast, that could possibly lead to another dusting of snow.  The next chance of snow will be the following week, with the chances starting as early as Monday of next week, but centered around New Year's Eve.  There will in fact likely be multiple opportunities for snow next week but there are no specifics in the models as of this time, so check back for updates.
