The warm air has already peaked this morning with
temperatures reaching 65 at my weather station this morning around
sunrise. Temperatures will start to fall
this afternoon into the 50’s. Tomorrow
the cold front will come through with temperatures dropping to the mid 40’s by
late afternoon. For Christmas Eve we
will have a chance of some light snow/snow showers/ or flurries that have the
possibility of whitening the ground in some locations just in time for
Christmas, although the official definition of a White Christmas in the United
States would require us to have at least 1 inch of snow on the ground at 7 am
on Christmas morning, so that is not likely to happen. After that we will have a nice but cold Christmas
Day, followed by a chance of more light snow on Thursday night that could bring
us another dusting to an inch of snow (although we need to keep an eye on this one,
as this is one of the days that I pinpointed long ago). Then the next storm to watch will be one that
has the chance to be quite significant, currently timed for around New Year’s
Eve, but it could start as early as next Monday. This storm could continue into New Year’s
Day. Then another storm is likely to
approach for the following Saturday, possibly starting as early as next
Friday. Honestly, the time period from
around next Monday through next Saturday look to be quite active. We
shall see.
