We will have a slight chance of a White Christmas in some
locations as some Lake Effects snow squalls are likely to move into our area this
evening. These snow squalls will have
the potential to drop between a dusting and one inch of snow, however it is
possible that some locations won’t see these squalls. Snow squalls in the Lake Effect streamers are
often very narrow bands of heavy snow.
Right now it appears that all of us will see at least some snow this
evening, with some people having a real chance at receiving an “official” White
Christmas, meaning an inch of snow measured on the ground at 7 am on Christmas
morning. If you plan on being on the
roads this evening, be on the lookout for these squalls as they often drop
heavy snow over a very brief period of time, catching travelers off guard,
which leads to many car accidents. For
Christmas Day we should then have a beautiful but cold day. Then we will again have a chance of a snow
shower on Thursday that could leave a dusting of snow. This weekend looks to be nice and warmer,
with highs reaching the mid 40’s on Saturday and the upper 40’s on Sunday, and
then cooling off on Monday with a chance of snow showers on New Year’s Eve and
New Year’s Day, although we need to watch this storm closely for more
development. Then we will have to watch
for the possibility of a more significant storm for next Friday and
Saturday.
