We will have rain heavy at times today that will likely
cause some flooding as temperatures will also rise to the mid 50’s, causing
snow to melt to our north and in the rivers as well. If you know someone who lives or works near a
river or stream, please be on the lookout for ice jams in the rivers that could
lead to localized severe flooding with little warning. After this storm passes we will have more
rain on Tuesday, although it no longer looks to be flooding rain situation. Then on Wednesday there will be a chance for
snow as a storm system will drop down from Canada at the same time that the
cold air works into our area. At this time there is significant model disagreement as to how much this storm will intensify, so it
is difficult to say whether we will just see snow showers or something much
more significant on Wednesday. After
this storm passes there appear to be a series of weak low pressure areas that
will pass by, bringing a chance of snow showers nearly every day from Friday through
next Monday. Any one of these
disturbances would have the potential to intensify into something more significant
but it is a bit too early to tell which one, if any of them, will be the
one. Right now my best guess would be
the one next Monday, but we will have to wait and see. Then another storm is likely to approach for
next Wednesday, bringing another chance for rain or snow. This is a very active weather pattern and it
looks to hold a bit more chance for snow as we head through the next 2 weeks,
so be sure to check back for updates.
