We are undergoing a pattern change today that will likely
lead to some incredible winter-like weather unlike anything we have seen in 20
years, since the winter of 1993-1994.
First though we will see some snow flurries and snow showers today
although any snow will have difficulty accumulating as the temperatures will
remain above freezing in most places. We
will have a slightly higher chance of getting some minor accumulation of snow
on Saturday morning as another weak storm passes by, bringing a chance for a
dusting to an inch of snow. Yet another
weak storm will likely bring us some snow showers on Sunday, again bringing a
chance for a dusting of snow. Then a
stronger storm is likely to develop on Monday night and Tuesday off the coast
of New Jersey. This storm will likely
turn into a Nor'easter, however the model runs this morning do not have it
being as strong as it was on prior runs and have moved it up to Monday night
into Tuesday. It would still have a
chance of bringing us significant snow though on Monday night and Tuesday. It will likely get extremely cold after the
storm passes, with temperatures likely dropping below zero in many places
by Wednesday morning. Then the
temperatures could drop to near 10 below zero in some places by Thursday
morning, with many places seeing 5 below zero. We will then have a chance of another
significant snowstorm on Friday and Saturday, and possibly another one on
Sunday. It will then remain very cold
through the following week, with more chances for snow after that, and no end
in sight to this weather pattern through at least the end of the month.
