Thursday, December 18, 2014 - Morning Weather Discussion

Well, the storm that was supposed to happen this coming weekend that would have been a big snowstorm, has been delayed till Monday night, and by then there will be no cold air left, so we will end up with a rainstorm instead…

So, we will have fairly nice but cooler days today through Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 30’s today and the mid 30’s tomorrow through Sunday.

Monday clouds will increase in the morning as the storm finally approaches from the south, bringing us a chance for rain in the afternoon and at night.  The highs will be in the mid to upper 30’s.

Tuesday we will have a chance of showers and highs in the low 40’s.

Christmas Eve a strong storm is likely to develop along the East Coast as a strong upper level low pressure area over the Great Lakes will combine with another strong piece of upper level energy moving along the Gulf Coast.  The storm will however take an inland path.  This will allow warm air to surge northward up the East Coast ahead of the storm.  This will cause high temperatures to reach near 50 for Christmas Eve day with heavy rain and strong winds in the morning and afternoon, ending by evening.   This will also likely cause travel delays on Christmas Eve day for those traveling for the holiday.

Behind the storm for Christmas Day we should have variably cloudy skies with highs around 40.

Next Friday we should have mostly sunny skies with highs again around 40.

Next Saturday we will have a chance of showers as a cold front approaches.  Highs next Saturday should be in the low 40’s.

Next Sunday through Tuesday should then be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 30’s.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day we will have a chance of rain or snow with high in the mid 30’s.

For those of you heading south to Florida for the holiday, expect the possibility of heavy travel delays on Christmas Eve Day with the heavy rains and strong winds and remember that my dad owns a real estate company in Florida. Click here to view his company website.
