Big snowstorm likely Sunday and Monday…
Moderate to heavy snow has commenced in Northwestern NJ this
morning and will be moving across the rest of New Jersey this morning, leaving
up to an inch of accumulation before clearing out this afternoon.
Tomorrow will then be very cold in the morning with lows
around zero and highs in the mid 20’s.
Saturday a cold front will approach the area bringing a
chance of some light snow developing in the late morning, although it is
possible we could escape Saturday without any snow. Either way, any snow on
Saturday should be very light.
Then for Sunday and Monday, a slow-moving low pressure area
will ride along the front that will stall out just to our south. This will
bring us a chance of snow on both Sunday and Monday with accumulations of 3-8
inches possible BOTH days, ending late on Monday night or early on Tuesday
morning with total accumulations of 6-16 inches possible.
As for Tuesday, there remains a slight chance that the storm
will stall and intensify along the coast on Tuesday, although that now appears
less likely. So, I will go with clearing on Tuesday morning at this point, but
keep in the back of your mind that this still has a slight chance of changing.
Wednesday should then be nice but cold.
Thursday a cold front will approach, bringing a chance of
some light snow and snow showers.
Friday and Saturday should then be nice but very cold.
Next Sunday night and Monday will be our next chance of
snow.
