Friday, May 27, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

HOT this weekend - flooding possible Memorial Day...

If you have not already done so, download the Edgeweather App from Google Play Store and the Apple App Store! Push notifications are enabled! And for those of you who have the app, yes, that satellite picture is Superstorm Sandy before she made her turn and hit NYC.

It will be HOT tomorrow and Sunday with highs mainly in the upper 80's to low 90's, with some mid 90's likely in parts of Central and especially Northeastern NJ.  It will be cooler along the coast and on Long Island.

There will be some scattered thunderstorms around this evening and again tomorrow evening and then a bit better chance Sunday afternoon and evening.

Then for Memorial Day, well, an approaching weak frontal system will combine with a coastal low pressure along the Southeastern United States Coast to bring us rain for Memorial Day, and it could be heavy at times from the late morning through the afternoon, ending at night. The heavy rainfall could cause flash flooding throughout the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas on Memorial day as rainfall amounts could be as high as 2-5 inches in parts of our area.

Unfortunately, this means a washout of a Memorial Day for most of us. It will also be cool with highs mainly in the upper 60's to low 70's. Sorry...

It should then be nice Tuesday through Thursday with highs in the 80's Tuesday and Wednesday, dropping back to the 70's to low 80's Thursday.

Then next Friday and Saturday we will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms as a strong cold front approaches.  Highs should again be in the 70's to low 80's.

Next Sunday and Monday should then be nice, but cooler with highs only in the upper 60's to low 70's.

Next Tuesday through Thursday will then likely be variably cloudy with a chance of showers as a slow moving cold front approaches our area. Highs will slowly rise from the upper 60's to low 70's to the mid to upper 70's by next Thursday.

Sorry for the wet forecast for Memorial Day...

Stay cool and have a fantastic evening!
