Wednesday, May 25, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

Heat and Humidity through Sunday, and then for Memorial Day, well...

The heat began today with a high of 87 degrees at my location in Allamuchy, Warren County, NJ, and many locations reported 90 degrees in Central and Northern NJ.

The heat will continue through Sunday with highs tomorrow and Friday nearly identical to today and possibly a degree or so warmer Friday. There will be a very slight chance of a late afternoon thunderstorm tomorrow and a slight chance Friday.

Then Saturday and Sunday the heat will blast the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas with highs in most places in the upper 80's to low 90's, with some mid 90's likely in parts of Central and especially Northeastern NJ. There will be a slight chance of an evening thunderstorm Saturday and a greater chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms Sunday.

Then unfortunately things go downhill for Memorial day with a chance for showers and thunderstorms as a weak cold front approaching from the west combines with a weak coastal storm to our south. This will also drop temperatures to the 70's in most locations for Memorial Day, and unfortunately to the upper 60's along the coast.

Then things will then clear out and warm up for Tuesday and next Wednesday with highs again in the 80's.

Next Thursday and Friday we will then have a chance for showers and thunderstorms as a strong cold front approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 70's.

Things may then remain unstable for next weekend and into the start of the following week as the cold front stalls out along the coast, bringing us a chance for showers and thunderstorms and temperatures mainly in the 70's.

Stay cool and have a wonderful evening!
