Monday, August 29, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Generally nice and warm but tropical systems to watch…

It will be generally nice and warm through the next two weeks, with a bit of a break from the heat Thursday through Tuesday, then warming for a day or two, then back to the 70’s. The best chances for showers and thunderstorms will be Wednesday evening into Thursday morning and again next Thursday through Saturday.

The big story though over the next two weeks will be the activity that is taking place in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic. There is currently one storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico that could become a hurricane and then head towards a landfall north of Tampa Thursday. Another storm is currently developing off Cape Hatteras and could become a Tropical Depression and then another storm will be approaching the East Coast from the Atlantic next week. At the moment, none of these storms look as if they will have any effect on our local weather, other than some high surf and rip tides (click here to view the advisory from the National Weather Service), but we will have to keep a close eye on all of them.

Have a fantastic day!
