Thursday, September 29, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Flooding rains in parts of the Middle Atlantic today and a hurricane to watch…

Flooding rains will occur today in Northern Virginia, Eastern West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Central and Southeastern Pennsylvania. In isolated locations within this area up to 10 inches of rain will fall through tonight, causing severe and possibly historic flooding in some locations where bridges and roads could very well be washed out. Again, it is not everywhere within this area that will have these extreme rainfall amounts, but some locations within this large area will.

As for the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas, we will have a chance of showers today, with showers likely tonight and tomorrow, possibly heavy at times with some localized flooding possible. Highs will be mainly in the 60’s today, then the mid 50’s to mid 60’s tomorrow.

The chance of showers will continue through Sunday but they should be more scattered over the weekend. Highs will range from the mid 50’s to the mid 60’s Saturday, rising to mainly the 60’s Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day and highs in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s Monday, and the 60’s Tuesday.

Wednesday through next Friday should then be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 60’s next Wednesday and Thursday, rising to around 70 next Friday.

Next Saturday through Wednesday should be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm each day as a hurricane may move up the East Coast late next week, followed by a cold front early the following week. Highs will be mainly in the low 70’s next Saturday, dropping to the upper 50’s to mid 60’s next Sunday, then the mid 50’s to low 60’s next Monday, then rising to the low to mid 60’s next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Have a fantastic day and stay dry!
