Friday, October 7, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

Not so nice in the Southeast but nice for us...

It will be pretty horrendous over the Southeastern United States over the next couple of days as Hurricane Matthew will slowly continue its trek along the Florida, Georgia, and Carolina Coasts, bringing Tropical Storm or Hurricane winds as far north as Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The other problem that will be faced from Northern Florida through the Eastern Carolinas will be the heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 10-20 inches possible for Northeastern South Carolina and Southeastern North Carolina. This would cause some serious flooding in those locations. In fact, some heavy rain now seems possible even as far north as about Atlantic City, but with much lighter totals.

As far as the New York City and Allentown Metropolitan areas, it looks as if we will have some really nice weather over the next two weeks with just a chance of a shower or thunderstorm tomorrow, a slight chance Wednesday and next Saturday, and then a bit better chance Sunday night into Monday.

Highs will be in the mid to upper 60's in most places tomorrow and the upper 50's to mid 60's Sunday through Wednesday. Thursday should then be warmer with highs in the low to mid 70's, dropping back to the mid to upper 60's next Friday, the mid 50's to low 60's next Saturday, and the mid to upper 60's next Sunday. Next Monday through Thursday should be in the mid to upper 60's.
