Saturday, October 1, 2016 - Morning Weather Discussion

Showers this weekend and then watching Hurricane Matthew…

Happy October 1st!

The chance for showers will continue through the weekend, with even a slight chance of a shower Monday and Tuesday. Highs will be mainly in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s today and in the 60’s in most places tomorrow. Monday highs should range from mainly the upper 60’s to the mid 70’s, dropping to the low to mid 60’s Tuesday.

Wednesday and Thursday should then be nice with highs in the low to mid 60’s Wednesday, rising to the mid to upper 60’s Thursday.

Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as a cold front approaches. Highs should be in the mid to upper 60’s.

Right now it looks as if this cold front on Friday will help to push Hurricane Matthew out to sea, leaving us with nice weather Saturday through next Tuesday and highs in the 60’s.

Next Wednesday afternoon through Friday are looking variably cloudy with a chance of a shower and highs from the upper 50’s to the mid 60’s.

We will have to watch Hurricane Matthew very closely as this storm is currently a strong Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. Matthew is currently sitting just off the Northern Coast of South America. Matthew is about to turn due north and head across Eastern Cuba, then up into the Bahamas. The storm should then start to turn northeastward and head out to sea late next week. However, this is all still a long way out and things can change, so anyone along the East Coast from Florida to Maine should be monitoring this situation very closely.
