Thursday, October 20, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

Showers possible tonight through Saturday afternoon, and snow to our north…

The chance of showers will continue tonight through Saturday afternoon as a strong cold front approaching from the west will combine with a tropical disturbance approaching from the Atlantic Ocean. Highs will be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s tomorrow, dropping through Saturday afternoon to the low 40’s to low 50’s.

As the storm moves through New England there could actually be a few snowflakes mixed with the rain in Northeastern PA Saturday afternoon, with accumulating snow possible in the Catskills, where up to 6 inches of snow could fall in the highest elevations. Further north the big snow winner will be the Adirondacks, where up to a foot or more of snow will be possible Saturday afternoon and night. Further east the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Green Mountains of Vermont, Northeastern Vermont, and Northern New Hampshire could also see some accumulating snow, with up to six inches or more of snow possible.

It had looked this morning as if there could be heavy rain on the extreme Eastern end of Long Island, tomorrow into Saturday morning, but that no longer looks likely.

Sunday will then be nice during the day, with a chance of some showers at night. Highs will be in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower and highs in the 50’s.

Tuesday and Wednesday should then be nice, but cool, with highs in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s Tuesday and the low to mid 50’s Wednesday. Lows may drop to the mid to upper 20’s Wednesday morning in the coldest locations of Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ and Orange County, NY.

Next Thursday there will be a chance of showers with highs in the upper 50’s to mid 60’s.

Next Friday through Sunday should then be nice with highs in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s next Friday and the low 40’s to low 50’s next Saturday and Sunday. Lows could also drop to the mid to upper 20’s in the coldest locations of Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ, and Orange County, NY next Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Next Monday and Tuesday we will have a chance of showers with highs in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Wednesday should then be nice with highs in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Have a wonderful evening!
