Thursday, October 21, 2016 - Evening Weather Discussion

It is about to get colder around here…

The high hit an amazing 78 degrees today at my weather station in Allamuchy, Warren County, NJ, but colder air is on its way…

A strong cold front is approaching from the west and a tropical disturbance is approaching from the Atlantic. These two systems will cause a strong Nor’easter to form east of Long Island tonight. This storm will then move northward through New England tomorrow, bringing us a chance for showers tonight into tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will fall tomorrow, reaching the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA, the low to mid 40’s in East Central PA, Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and Fairfield County, CT, the mid 40’s in NYC, and the mid to upper 40’s in Central NJ and on Long Island by early afternoon. There could even be a few flakes of snow mixed in with the showers tomorrow afternoon in the highest elevations of Northeastern PA, with a bit more possible in the highest elevations of the Catskill Mountains and significant accumulations possible in the Adirondacks of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the White Mountains of Northern New Hampshire.

Sunday should then be nice, but with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and a chance of a shower at night. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s.

Monday through Wednesday will then be nice with highs in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s Monday, the 40’s Tuesday, and the upper 30’s to upper 40’s Wednesday. Lows could drop as low as the mid to upper 20’s in the coldest inland locations Wednesday morning, for the first hard freeze.

Thursday there will be a chance of showers as a cold front approaches our area. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Friday should then be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 40’s to upper 50’s.

Next Saturday will be variably cloudy with a slight chance of a shower and highs in the mid 50’s to low 60’s.

Next Sunday there will be a chance of a shower and highs in the low to mid 50’s.

Next Monday through Thursday should then be nice with highs in the upper 40’s to low 50’s next Monday, the mid 50’s to low 60’s next Tuesday, the mid 50’s to low 60’s next Wednesday, and the 50’s next Thursday.

Have a wonderful evening!
