All eyes have to be on the potential for a hurricane to affect the United States anywhere from New Orleans to Miami depending on the track…

We really need to keep an eye on the disturbance currently located east of the Windward Islands and off the coast of South America. This disturbance will continue moving westward through the Caribbean Sea over the new few days, reaching Cuba or the Gulf of Mexico this weekend or early next week, strengthening to a tropical storm and hurricane as it does so. The waters are very warm in the western Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico as there have been no tropical storms there this summer. This extremely warm water will allow this system to develop rapidly, very likely reaching major hurricane strength as it approaches the United States anywhere from Miami to New Orleans as early as Monday or as late as next Friday, depending on the track. The remnants of this system will then likely affect our area next weekend into early the following week. Click here for the latest on tropical disturbance number 1 from the National Hurricane Center.  Below is a satellite image of this disturbance.

Today will be variably cloudy and warm with highs in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s.

Tomorrow, showers or thunderstorms will be likely, ending in the afternoon and early evening from northwest to southeast as a cold front passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s.

Friday and Saturday will then be nice, but cool on Friday with highs only in the mid 50’s to mdi 60’s, rising to the 60’s to low 70’s Saturday.

Sunday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm at night as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a chance of showers or thunderstorms during the day as the disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Tuesday through next Friday, September 30th will then be nice with highs from the low 60’s in Northeastern PA to the low to mid 70’s in Central NJ Tuesday, mainly the 60’s next Wednesday and Thursday, and the 60’s to low 70’s next Friday.

Next Saturday, October 1st, clouds will increase with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon or at night as the remnants of the tropical system may start to reach our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to low 70’s.

Next Sunday, October 2nd and next Monday, October 3rd, there will be a chance of showers or thunderstorms as the remnants of the tropical system may pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.

Next Tuesday, October 3rd, will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm as the remnants of the tropical system start to pull away from our area. Highs will be in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s.
