Friday, March 10, 2023 - Weather Discussion

Some snow in parts of our area this evening into tomorrow morning, and then a potentially bigger storm to watch for Monday and Tuesday…

There will be some rain and snow in our area later today as a disturbance passes through our area. The precipitation will start late this afternoon and this evening from west to east, ending tomorrow morning.

Total possible snowfall accumulation:

Trace to an inch possible:  Central NJ, far northeastern NJ (near NYC), NYC, Southern Westchester County, NY, Long Island

1-4 inches possible:  East Central PA, Northeastern NJ

2-6 inches possible:  Northeastern PA, Northwestern NJ

3-6 inches possible:  Orange, Rockland, Northern Westchester County in NY State, and Fairfield County, CT

We will then have to watch as two disturbances approach our area, one in the northern jet stream and one in the southern jet stream. These two disturbances will merge along the Middle Atlantic Coast on Monday, forming into a strong Nor’easter. The Nor’easter will then track northeastward along the coast Monday and Tuesday, bringing our area rain and snow, and quite possibly very significant snow to parts of our area, depending on the exact track of the storm. There are still many variables here and it is truly still too early to tell exactly how this will all work out, but it should be known that this storm has the potential to bring a very significant snowfall to parts of our area.
