Monday Evening Update
Well, the models are all over the place, but I think I might be getting a handle of what will happen later this week. My current thinking is that the Wednesday evening storm will miss us to the south and some of that energy will instead combine with the Friday storm, which I believe has the potential to bring significant snow to parts, if not all of Northern New Jersey. There are many details to be worked out, and honestly, anything is possible at this point, but what I think will happen is that the storm will form along the coast of the Carolinas on Thursday and move north along the coast, and intensify, as it moves to a point off the New Jersey coast by Friday afternoon. If this happens, it would likely bring snow to our area on Thursday night and Friday, with accumulating snows in some, if not all locations. Accumulations could be quite significant depending on the exact track and strength of the storm. The track and strength of the storm will also determine who gets snow and who gets rain, and how much. At the moment, it looks like areas to the north of Rt. 78 and west of about Rt. 287 have the best chances of accumulating snows, and possibly quite a bit. Areas further to the east could very easily receive accumulating snows as well, depending on the exact track that the storm takes. Keep in mind that there is still the possibility of some snow on Wednesday night and there is still the possibility the storm on Friday may not happen at all, or depending on the exact track could be all rain, or all snow for everyone, including New York City. Many details still need to be resolved by the models. The models are having a great degree of difficulty in putting the details together, as in this case, there are many moving pieces that may or may not come together to form what could be a potent storm. Stay tuned. I will post another update in the early morning by around 5:30am.
