Thursday Evening Update on the Flood Potential

The National Weather Service finally issued a flood watch for Northeast New Jersey a few hours ago for the possibility of flooding tomorrow. However, those of you who follow my blog have known about this potential for about a week already. Anyway, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms until late tomorrow morning when the heavier and steadier rains will start moving into Northern New Jersey. Those heavy rains will continue through late Saturday morning before tapering off. I expect rainfall totals of 2-3 inches throughout Northern New Jersey by late Saturday morning with widespread flooding. Later Saturday and most of Sunday appear to be somewhat free of rain, with only a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Monday will also be mainly rain-free with only some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Then on Tuesday, the next bout of heavy rain may move into Northern New Jersey, possibly bringing an additional inch of rain prior to ending on Wednesday morning. It may finally clear out after that if we are lucky.
