Friday Morning's Weather Discussion - Wow!
Well, I have been talking about this here on this blog since Monday night and I have been watching this potential since last Saturday. It is now looking like a real possibility and has made it into my official 10-day forecast. The European model has now come into agreement with what the American model has been showing at one time or other on various model runs since Saturday. In fact, the European model now has an even more intense Nor’easter than even the American model shows. The European model actually merges an intense upper level low dropping down out of Canada into the Deep South with a tropical system coming from south of Cuba, across Cuba, then across Florida and merging with the intense upper level low over the southeast. This would produce an intense Nor’easter that would move into the cold air that has already moved into our area on Thursday. The Nor’easter would help pull down even colder air on Thursday night and Friday as the storm intensifies dramatically during the day on Friday and moves up the East Coast of the United States to a point off New England on Saturday. It is possible that the rain could change to snow as early as Thursday night in the higher elevations of Northwest New Jersey and as early as Friday morning in many other locations throughout Northern New Jersey. Most, if not all areas of Northern New Jersey should change to snow before the storm ends on Friday night. Total liquid precipitation should be in the 1-2 inch range although some of it could fall as snow in some locations. Stay tuned.
