Wednesday Morning's Weather Discussion

Today there will be rain, heavy at times, and it will be cool with a high struggling to reach 60 degrees. Rainfall amounts should be around 1 inch, so there may be some localized flooding, but there should not be major flooding problems. The rain will end in the early morning hours tomorrow, then it will clear out and there will be nice, but cool weather for the rest of Thursday, Friday, and the weekend with highs generally in the upper 50’s. It will warm up a bit on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the next frontal system, with highs in the lower 60’s on Monday and the middle 60’s on Tuesday. Then the next front approaches on Wednesday with the possibility of rain developing late in the day or at night. Then on Thursday, things could get interesting. Currently, I am going with the European model, which does not bring the front through as vigorously as the American model does. The European model would bring us much cooler weather with rain on Thursday and a high only in the upper 40’s to lower 50’s. If however the American model is correct with a more vigorous frontal system and more vigorous storm system, the rain could change to snow on Thursday in Northwest New Jersey, as temperatures would drop into the middle to upper 30’s for a high on Thursday. The American model would continue the chance of some snow through the night on Thursday and possibly into Friday with some light snow/flurries and a high on Friday only into the middle to upper 30’s. The American model would continue the cold weather through the weekend next weekend with highs only in the 30’s and lows in the 20’s. I must reiterate though that this is not currently my official forecast. My official forecast is the one that I post under my 10-day forecast, and this is currently based off the European model, which does not produce such extreme cold or snow. Therefore, this is just a possibility that I thought you should be aware of, as it could very well be correct, but we need to wait a little longer to see if the European model comes into agreement with the American model.
