Afternoon Run of the European Model - Snow Lovers May Have to Wait Again

The afternoon run of the European model produces a very significant storm next week. Much more impressive than on its prior runs, diving the upper level energy from Canada much further to the south than on its prior runs and combining it with the energy that was to produce the Friday storm, creating a strong low pressure area in the Southeast United States that will intensify as it moves north. However, it also keeps the cold front to our West, keeping us on the warm side of the storm. So, snow lovers may have to wait their turn again. This run produces 2-3 inches of flooding rains with showers on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the cold front and then heavy rains on Wednesday as the storm approaches our area from the Southeastern United States. Of course this is a long way out and many changes are likely, but at the moment it looks like the snow lovers will be deprived of their opportunity once again, and since it combined the energy from Friday’s potential storm into this stronger storm on Wednesday, the Friday storm threat would no longer exist. Apparently, this storm pattern that we are currently in just does not want to give up.
