Concerns Increase Greatly for TOMORROW!
The latest run of the medium range American model has raised concerns greatly for TOMORROW! The Japanese model also already showed this potential earlier today, as did the British model and yesterday's European model. It now looks as if the rain will stop tomorrow in the early morning hours after the cold front moves through, then a new storm will form over the southeastern United States and move northeast along the cold front. The precipitation should start around 8am from the new storm. By this time, the cold air will definitely be in place and the precipitation will be falling from the clouds as snow by this time. The question is whether it will be cold enough near the ground for the snow to make it to the ground before melting and changing to rain. The concern with the latest run of the medium range American model is that it has increased the intensity of this storm to the point that the precipitation could possibly be heavy enough to get this cold air from cloud level to ground level, or close to it. This increases the chances that the precipitation could make it to the ground in some areas of Northern New Jersey, if not all locations in Northern New Jersey, especially the higher elevations, where snow is likely tomorrow. It will be hard for the snow to accumulate as the temperatures will likely be slightly above freezing, dropping from the lower 40’s in the early morning to the middle to upper 30’s after the precipitation starts. However, it is now possible that the snow could accumulate to a dusting to an inch in ALL locations by the time it ends around 8pm, and possibly as much as 1-3 inches in higher elevations. Stay tuned.
