Saturday Morning's Weather Discussion

The weather will be nice but cool through Wednesday, and especially cold tomorrow. Lows will be in the lower to middle 20’s through Tuesday and highs will be only in the middle to upper 30’s tomorrow, and the lower to middle 40’s through Wednesday. Wednesday morning the low will be in the middle to upper 20’s. Thursday there will be a chance of showers as a storm heads towards the Great Lakes, bringing some slightly warmer air with it. The cold front associated with this storm system will approach our area on Friday, bringing steadier and heavier rains for the day on Friday, and then it will cool down and dry out for next weekend. Things could then get very interesting early next week as I expect a strong storm to form over the Southern United States, along the Gulf Coast on Sunday, then turn north towards our area on Monday. I believe a strong Nor’easter may form somewhere near the Delmarva Peninsula (where Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia meet) on Monday and move slowly north to off the New Jersey coast by Monday afternoon or night. This track would bring us heavy precipitation and keep cold air over us, but would it be cold enough for snow? If I am correct with this idea for Monday, the main question will be whether the temperatures will be cold enough for snow. The weather pattern this year has not been favorable for snow. Even when the storms are in the perfect position for a major snowstorm, as this last storm was this past Wednesday. It can rain if all the other features are not in place to lock the cold air in to our location, otherwise the storm can bring the warm air in with it off the ocean, as this last storm did. This could very well happen again with the potential storm around December 19th. Only time will tell. I will keep you updated.
