Sunday Morning's Look at the Next 10 Days

It looks like my ideas for the next 10 days continue to be on track so far, but first, today will be sunny but cold, with highs only in the middle 30’s. Tomorrow and Tuesday will be sunny but cool with lows in the lower to middle 20’s and highs in the lower 40’s. Wednesday will be just a touch warmer, with lows in the middle to upper 20’s and highs in the lower to middle 40’s. Then Thursday there will be a chance of showers as a storm system heads towards the Great Lakes. Friday will be sunny but warm ahead of a cold front with the storm system that went into the Great Lakes on Thursday, with highs on Friday likely approaching 50 degrees. Next Saturday should be quite a nice day, and then Sunday the clouds may start to increase a little ahead of an approaching storm system. Then things could get very interesting. Next Saturday, I am expecting a storm system to start developing along the Louisiana Gulf Coast and head towards the southern Appalachian Mountains, near the Tennessee, North Carolina border on Sunday, then towards us on Monday. There are still many questions with the ultimate track that this storm will take, hence my forecast of rain or snow on Monday and Tuesday of next week. My guess right now is that this storm will take a track similar to the last storm to affect our region. Often the storms repeat similar tracks, so this is my best guess right now. If the storm instead takes a path to our West, it would guarantee rain for us, if it takes the path I think it will, similar to the last storm, then there would be a chance of rain or snow, depending on how much cold air can remain in place. It is too far out to tell for sure what will happen, but I know many people have plans in the week prior to Christmas, so stay tuned. For those of you hoping for a white Christmas, well, here is our chance, albeit just a chance at this point. Do not get your hopes up too much, but at least we have a chance.

  3. I actually want a White Christmas, but under 5 inches with no massive blizzard the next day (ahem, last year).

  4. 50/50 chances right now, of a White Christmas that is. I don't see any signs of any blizzards though. I think you are safe there.
