Yesterday afternoon there were some strong thunderstorms
that moved through Morris County causing some road closures, power outages, and
rumors of a tornado. I lost power for 4
hours last evening. I believe that a tornado was a possibility based on the radar that I looked at when I got home yesterday. The thunderstorms were moving from east to west across Southern Warren, Hunterdon and Somerset Counties yesterday and west to east across Northern Warren, Sussex and Morris Counties yesterday. This amount of shear in the atmosphere could definitely have caused a tornado in the area between these two areas of movement. Anyway, Today through
Saturday there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs in
the upper 70’s today and tomorrow and the middle 80’s on Saturday. Sunday there will be a little greater chance
of showers and thunderstorms with a high in the lower 80’s. Then for Memorial Day through Wednesday,
there is a chance of a heat wave.
Memorial Day there will be just a slight chance of showers and
thunderstorms and a high in the lower 90’s.
Tuesday there will be a little greater chance of showers and
thunderstorms and a high around 90, and Wednesday should be mostly sunny with a
high in the upper 80’s. It should then
cool down for the end of next week, with sunny skies but cooler temperatures
for next Thursday, with a high in the upper 70’s, then a storm system may
affect our area with some rain and cooler temperatures next Friday, with a high
possibly only in the lower 60’s. Next
Saturday there will be just a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, with
a high in the middle 70’s.
