It is a little early to start going completely crazy here,
but it is getting close. There is the
chance of major flooding for the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia, Central
Pennsylvania and Western New York State, and possibly into Southern New York
State and Southern New England next weekend.
Flooding would also be likely here, but not as extreme as it would be in
the areas I just mentioned, but this needs to be watched very closely. The European model is currently indicating
the potential of 4-6 inches of rain next weekend in the areas I just mentioned,
and the possibility of 2-4 inches in our area, which could do some damage in
our area. Leading up to this possible
extreme weather event, things should actually be quite quiet and nice, with
only a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon, until this
strong system moves into our area next Saturday night. The heavy rains will be produced from a very
strong upper level low-pressure area that will move down from Canada and pull
moisture in from both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, producing the possibility
of some very strong showers and thunderstorms with extremely heavy rain. If you live in a flood prone location or have
flooding concerns for your home, you need to keep a close eye on this one. Stay tuned.
The good news is that the temperatures will be quite mild through the
period, with the only cool day being Tuesday, and the warmth should continue
well after this 10-day period is over as well.
There is currently no break in sight to the warmth.
