I am going with the European model with this forecast, as I
usually do. The model is showing the most consistency and makes the most sense
to me. It is showing a slightly weaker
storm than before, which is a good thing as far as winds go with go, although
they will still be strong, with winds possibly gusting as high as 35mph. Unfortunately, with it being slightly weaker
than originally forecast, it will permit more cold air to remain in place,
allowing for more wintry type weather.
My current forecast is for a dusting to 2 inches from roughly Route 287
east, and 2-5 inches for areas west of Route 287 in Northern New Jersey, and
north of Route 78. The accumulations
will be slightly lower in the eastern sections as it may mix with or change to
rain at night. The precipitation will
start between 9am and 12 noon on Wednesday morning and will end early in the
morning on Thursday. This forecast will
be very much subject to change, so please stay tuned for updates this
afternoon. The good news is that things
will clear out and warm up after this storm passes.
