The storm for tomorrow continues to be a sideswipe situation,
although the storm continues to trend closer to the coast on each model run,
hence the forecast of 3-5 inches. There
is still a chance that this storm could come a little closer to the coast,
which would slightly increase accumulations, or go a little further off the
coast and slightly reduce accumulations.
The snow should start around 8:00am or 9:00am and end around 8:00pm or
9:00pm. After the storm tomorrow, we
will need to keep an eye on the next weak storm set to approach our area on New
Year’s Eve. This weak storm may bring
some light snow to our area, which could accumulate to a dusting to an inch on
New Year’s Eve and again on New Year’s Day, although temperatures may get above
freezing on New Year’s Day. After this storm,
passes by we will need to watch another storm, which will be developing in the
Gulf of Mexico the middle of next week. This
storm may be kept to our south by the extremely cold air that will be pushing
into our area late next week, but that is not a certainty. What I am somewhat certain about is that it
will get extremely cold toward the end of next week, with low temperatures
dropping into the single digits, and possibly breaking below zero in some
locations.
