Overnight things amazingly turned back to almost where they
looked yesterday at this point, but with a bit of a weaker Christmas Eve into
Christmas Day storm and a bit of a warmer Wednesday into Thursday storm. On
Christmas Eve, a weak storm is going to approach our area, with light snow
starting around 9 or 10 pm and ending early on Christmas morning around 4 or
5am with a dusting to an inch or two of accumulation possible. Then we immediately need to turn our eyes to
a much stronger storm approaching our area from the Southeastern United States.
This storm should start as snow around 1pm
on Wednesday afternoon, and the snow may become heavy at times, accumulating to
1-3 inches roughly east of Rt. 287 and south of Rt. 80 and 3-6 inches roughly
west of Rt. 287 and north of Rt. 80, prior to possibly mixing with or changing
to sleet, freezing rain, or rain and continuing through the night, heavy at
times. The rain, freezing rain, sleet,
or snow should change back to all snow before ending late in the morning, with
an additional dusting to an inch or two of accumulation possible. There is still a possibility that this storm
could be mostly or all rain, or mostly or all snow. If this storm were all snow, accumulations
would be around a foot. Then, after this
storm, we need to turn our eyes to another potentially strong storm to affect
our area next Saturday afternoon into early Sunday. Right now, this storm appears to be a
possible snowstorm, with significant accumulations possible. After this storm, we will then need to turn
our eyes to another possible snowstorm for New Year’s Day or the day after New Year’s. Check back for updates.
