Evening Update

The American model has been very consistent with the Wednesday night storm, ranging anywhere from a dusting to as much as 6 inches in our area over the past few days on each model run.  The latest model run brings Northern New Jersey 3-6 inches on Wednesday night, starting around 3pm on Wednesday evening and ending around 1am on Thursday morning.  As far as the weekend Nor'easter potential goes, there is still potential for a very strong Nor'easter on Saturday night into Sunday morning in our area but the details remain very much in question.  It looks as if the models agree on the fact that the Nor'easter will develop near Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on Saturday.  Then the models disagree on how this storm will track, with the western most track by the models being slightly inland from us, and the eastern most track being well east of Cape Cod.  Most models are somewhere in between, and that is the most likely solution.  The exact track that this storm takes will determine who gets hit hardest by this developing Nor'easter.  Right now it looks like the potential is there for snow all the way up and down the east coast, as far south as the Florida Panhandle on Saturday.  Keep in mind that there is still the possibility that this storm could remain just far enough off shore to not have a significant impact on our area.  On the other hand, there is the possibility that it will have a very significant impact on our area.  I also continue watching for the potential of a significant Nor'easter on Friday, February 22nd into Saturday, February 23rd.  Check back for updates.
