Latest Information and My Forecast
My best guess, based upon all available information from the afternoon runs is that Northern New Jersey will see a widespread 12-24 inches of snow with the lowest accumulations in western sections and the higher accumulations in eastern sections. New York City itself will likely receive 2 feet of snow. And yes, it should be all snow, except it could start very briefly as rain in the city areas, but it would very quickly change to snow if it does. The snow should start lightly around 4am and become steady and heavier by around 10am, with snow heavy at times by 12 noon or 1pm and continuing through the afternoon and night. The snow should end between 5am and 7am on Saturday morning from west to east. In addition, it will be quite windy, with wind gusts of 30-50 mph possible, causing extensive blowing and drifting of the snow and possible power outages.
