OK, We Have a Historic Blizzard, Now My Concerns

My biggest concerns are that people will get stranded on the roads, and this would be life threatening.  Everyone should be off the roads by late afternoon tomorrow, and preferably by mid-day tomorrow to be safe.  The snow will develop rapidly by around 12 noon to 1pm and become quite heavy with little warning.  If you were to be on the roads and get stuck, you could be stuck there for a long time as the plows will not be able to keep up with the heavy snow.  Next concern is that the winds will also gust over 30mph and there are likely to be at least some power outages, if not significant power outages.  This is bad enough, but remember, if the power goes out they will not be able to fix the problem for at least a couple or few days because there will be 18-30 inches of snow, so the roads will be impassable until at least Sunday at the earliest, and on Sunday morning, to add insult to injury, the temperatures are going to drop to the middle to upper single digits.  Therefore it is imperative that you have an alternative source for heat, and remember the dangers of portable heaters.  They must be properly ventilated, and if you use a generator, make sure that it is outside the house, never in an enclosed area, or near a window.  There is an excellent video from my second favorite weather man, Chad Meyers from CNN, who speaks of some of these concerns.  View the "Monster Historic Blizzard" video from CNN by clicking here.  Gee, didn't I use those exact words here two ago?  Monster Historic Blizzard - I think I heard that before somewhere, didn't I?
