The first of three storms is over us today and will bring
some rain, which could possibly change back to a bit of snow before ending
early tomorrow morning. Then the second
storm will approach on Tuesday, and the evolution of that storm should be
similar to this storm, with rain, sleet, or snow developing on Tuesday
afternoon, then changing to rain on Tuesday night and continuing through the
night before possibly turning back to a little snow before ending on early on
Wednesday morning. Then there are still
many details that the models have to resolve with the third possible storm for
Thursday and Friday. This is the storm
potential that I have been talking about for so long already. The storm from Tuesday night will stall out
over us, as there will be strong blocking setting up near us. At the same time another piece of energy is
likely to rotate around this area of low pressure that has stalled out over us,
and as it reaches the Atlantic Coast on Thursday there is a chance that it will
develop into a significant Nor’easter near us.
However, the models are having a very difficult time resolving the
details and can’t decide if this Nor’easter will develop near us, or slightly
to our North, or out to sea. If it develops
close enough to us, it would bring us significant snow on Thursday and
Friday. If it develops further North it
would bring New England a significant snowstorm or even blizzard, and if it
develops out to sea, then we will just be left with snow showers from Thursday
through next Tuesday as the upper level low pressure area will still be sitting
and spinning over us until then. In my
14 day forecast I went with the snow shower option, as this is the safest way
to go at the moment, but this is subject to change and I will be keeping a
close eye on the potential. After this
storm finally leaves the area early next week we may finally see some nice
weather for a few days, maybe.
