A weak storm will approach our area on Tuesday, bringing
some rain late in the morning and early in the afternoon. The next storm of concern will approach on
Friday. This storm now appears to
breaking into two separate storms, one a weak one for Friday, bringing a chance
of some light snow, then possibly a more significant storm for Saturday, which
could bring more significant precipitation depending on how close the storm
come to us as it moves in our direction from the Southeast. This storm can be rain or snow depending on
the track that it ultimately takes.
After this storm passes, another storm will approach for next
Tuesday. This storm could also be quite
significant and the type of precipitation will depend on the track the storm
takes. Then we will have to watch for a
weaker storm next Thursday or Friday that could bring some light snow to our
area. After that storm passes, I have a
feeling that we may very well be watching a storm develop near the Gulf Coast
and merge with a storm dropping down from the northern jet stream, potentially
producing a very significant Nor’easter along the East Coast sometime between Friday
March 1st and Sunday March 3rd. This
storm has the potential to have a significant amount of moisture to work with,
and is likely to be quite slow moving, possibly lasting for two days wherever
it hits. This storm is obviously a long
way out, and even if it does develop, there is no possible way at this point to
determine whether it would affect our immediate area or if it did, whether the precipitation
would be rain or snow. However, at this
moment in time it does appear that there would be a significant amount of cold
air available for this storm to tap, which means there could very well be a
very significant snowstorm somewhere in the Eastern United States for the start
of March. Check back for updates, as we
appear to have a very active two weeks of weather ahead of us. Have a
nice evening.
