As I had been fearing, the models continue to trend stronger
on each model run for the Saturday storm and now most models bring us at least
a couple of inches of snow. There is
certainly the potential this storm could continue to trend stronger, so we need
to keep a close eye on this potential.
The models are now starting to see that the storm will indeed develop
somewhere off the New Jersey coast, just as I was thinking. The two questions now will be how fast this
storm deepens and whether it is far enough west to affect our area? We will have to wait and see. The
British, Japanese, and U.S. Navy models have been the most consistent with this
storm so far. They all develop this
storm rapidly and close to our area, developing a very intense Nor’easter just
to the east of us, that would likely hit the already hard hit areas on Long
Island and in New England with another very strong Nor’easter. As I said, this data will not be fully on
land until later today, so this could still trend stronger on future model
runs, and our American model and the European model only now are starting to
figure out that this storm is going to happen.
After this storm passes, we will see some rain on Tuesday, and then we
may be facing another strong Nor’easter next Friday. Check back for updates and Happy Valentine's Day!
