Saturday, May 25th, 2013 - Morning Weather Discussion
Well, I really nailed the cold temperatures for yesterday and today, and the chance for snow in the higher elevations of the Catskill Mountains. There was indeed snow in some of the higher elevations of the Catskill Mountains last night and this morning and the precipitation falling in our area has indeed been falling out of the clouds as snow (but melting before reaching the ground) since last night. The storm has however been moving a bit quicker than expected, which allowed the temperatures to drop into the mid 40’s yesterday afternoon instead of last evening, and will therefore mean that the temperatures will warm quicker than expected as well, possibly allowing us to get into the low to mid 50’s today as the storm is starting to pull away already. The storm should be mostly out of the area tomorrow, although there may still be some lingering clouds, continuing to keep the temperatures below normal, with a high only in the low 60’s tomorrow. Memorial Day should however be absolutely beautiful, with a high around 70. Of course, right after the holiday weekend is over, the temperatures will soar, reaching the upper 70’s on Tuesday, the low to mid 80’s on Wednesday, and around 90 on Thursday and Friday. The nice weather should continue through next weekend with highs in the mid to upper 80’s. There will however be chances for showers or thunderstorms early on Wednesday, then again on Friday through Monday.
