We will see showers and thunderstorms today as a strong cold
front approaches our area, some of which could be quite heavy, producing strong
winds, flooding, and possibly even weak tornadoes. Tomorrow the cold front will start moving
through our area at the same time that a low pressure area forms along the
front, causing the front to slow down and cold air to filter into our
area. The temperatures will drop
throughout the day, starting out in the low to mid 60’s tomorrow morning, then
dropping to the upper 50’s to low 60’s early in the afternoon, then to the mid
to upper 40’s in the evening. Saturday
we will have rain as the storm will stall our in our area and it will be quite
cool for this time of year, with the high on Saturday likely only in the upper
40’s, with snow starting to fall from the clouds on Saturday afternoon,
although it will melt and change to rain before it makes it to the ground. The rain (snow from the clouds melting before
it reaches the ground) will likely continue at least lightly from time to time
through the day on Sunday, with the low on Sunday morning dropping to the upper
30’s to low 40’s, and the high on Sunday only in the low 50’s. It is possible that some of the higher
elevations in the Catskill Mountains could see some snow make it to the ground from
Saturday afternoon through the day on Sunday. Then things should clear out and
warm up for Memorial Day, with the high reaching the upper 60’s. It should then be nice for Tuesday and
Wednesday before the next front approaches on Thursday, bringing some showers
and thunderstorms, but then temperatures will actually soar, likely approaching
90 degrees next Friday, and breaking 90 degrees next Saturday.
