Well, we are approaching the anniversary of the big early season snowstorm
that created devastation in our area two years ago and the days prior to Superstorm Sandy of last
year, which created incredible devastation, BOTH storms occurring on October 29th.
Luckily we have nothing very interesting to discuss this year and there
are no big changes in the forecast over the next two weeks. We will see nice but cool weather through Tuesday,
then a chance of showers on Wednesday morning, followed by a chance of a shower
late on Halloween day and showers and thunderstorms, possibly heavy at times on
Friday. Next Saturday through Wednesday
should then be nice, with just a chance of a rain or snow shower next Sunday
and Monday. The pattern right now seems
to be to take these storms up into the Great Lakes which will cause warm air to
surge ahead of any storms, followed by rain, then cooler temperatures behind
the storms. This pattern will last
through at least the next 2 weeks.
Below are some posts I made before Sandy hit last year.

Saturday Morning's Weather Discussion - NEW JERSEY IS ABOUT TO GET HIT BY THE STRONGEST STORM IN RECORDED HISTORY FOR NEW JERSEY, AND ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE STORMS IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES!!!
WE ARE ABOUT TO GET HIT BY THE MOST INTENSE STORM IN RECORDED HISTORY IN NEW JERSEY, AND ONE OF THE MOST INTENSE STORMS IN UNITED STATES HISTORY!!! With that in mind, I can't believe we are still not under a State of Emergency in New Jersey, meanwhile both bordering states and almost every other state from Virginia to Massachusetts is under a State of Emergency, other than Delaware, which is just as surprising. EVERY major model is now showing a direct hit on the New Jersey Coast, anywhere from Cape May to Sandy Hook, but the consensus and most likely landfall location as of right now appears to be near Ocean City, New Jersey, just south of Atlantic City. This would be absolutely devastating for the beaches from Atlantic City to Toms River if this were to verify, meaning the beaches and barrier island in those locations have the potential to be completely wiped out. From Toms River north to Sandy Hook, the devastation should also be tremendous, although I would be hopeful that those beaches would not be completely wiped out as well, but they could be. As far as the affect on us, a hit that far south would save us from the absolute worst that Sandy has to offer, keeping that for South Jersey. The rains if Sandy hit in South Jersey would be much less, in range of 2.5-3.0 inches, which is manageable in most locations, especially since it has been so dry recently. Don't get me wrong, there will definitely be some flooding, but it will not be as bad as it would be if she hits further north near Asbury Park or Sandy Hook. The winds will be quite strong here, but again, probably not as strong as they would have been if she hit further north, probably sustained in the 20-40mph range, with some gusts to 60-70mph. That is my best guess right now, but for goodness sake, why are we not under a State of Emergency already? I am sure we will be soon though, reality will have to set in down in Trenton sooner or later. After Hurricane Sandy hits us on Monday and Tuesday, she will sit around and keep us cool and showery through Wednesday and possibly even Thursday. Things should dry out for Friday and Saturday, then we will likely get showers again next Sunday and Monday as a cold front and associated weak storm approaches our area.
