Well this forecast for today and probably tomorrow turned out to be a COMPLETE bust on my part. When I am wrong, I will be the first to admit it. I can't believe how today worked out. This morning on the way into work there were reports already of flooding as close by as Southern New Jersey and then all day today there was heavy rain over the Poconos and all of Eastern Pennsylvania. There was not even supposed to be any significant rain in Northeast Pennsylvania. Well, they got it and somehow a hole developed right over Northern New Jersey. Honestly, I hate when I get it wrong, and I did, but on the other hand the nice ride home was a pleasant surprise. Moving forward, there will still be a chance of some rain tomorrow, and light rain on Saturday, ending on Sunday morning, with partial clearing on Sunday afternoon. Monday through Friday should then be variably cloudy all days as we are sandwiched between the coastal storm and a cold front moving towards us very slowly from the west. The front should finally get close enough to us on Saturday to bring some showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and night, continuing into Monday. Then some interesting situations are likely to arise as storms move toward us from the west with some cold air in place. One such storm is likely to approach our area around October 22nd or 23rd, and another around October 26th, or October 27th. The first system will likely be just warm enough for rain, but it will be a close call. The 2nd storm however would have even more potential to be the first accumulating snow for parts of the Northeastern United States, possibly even in our area. The last model run timed this storm for October 26th, this model run that just came out places the storm.......do I hear a drumbeat?..... on October 27th. Oh my. Honestly the model shows temperatures on this model run that would be very supportive of snow even into our area. Again, in all honesty, even though I have been talking about just this possibility for a couple of months already based on the pattern that has been in place, this result is simply highly unlikely. Stay tuned.
