The cold weather has arrived, now we have to watch as a
storm will start to develop along the Gulf Coast. This storm will move northeast, however it
now appears that it will take a track that will put the center of low pressure
right along the New Jersey Coast. This
will allow warm air to surge north as the storm approaches (I hear the sighs of relief already). The precipitation may very well start as
light snow, sleet, or freezing rain, around 3 or 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon, but
it should change to rain around 8 pm as the warm air moves into our area. The rain will become heavy at times overnight
on Tuesday and will come to an end by around 5-6 am on Wednesday morning. There will be just a chance of a snow shower
or flurry during the day on Wednesday behind the storm. Thanksgiving and Black Friday will then be
very cold, with highs both days only in the low 30’s and lows will reach the
low to mid 20’s on Thanksgiving morning and the upper teens to low 20’s for
Black Friday morning. Next weekend may
then get even colder with the lows possibly reaching the single digits in some
locations by Sunday morning and highs likely not making it out of the 20’s. Then the following week we will need to watch
for the possibility of another Nor'easter developing around the middle of the
week. This storm would again bring us
the chance for some precipitation. Right
now it appears more likely that it would be snow as temperatures should be much
colder by that time as we get into December.
