We will have one more day of cold and dry weather tomorrow with a low in the mid to upper teens tomorrow morning and high in the mid 30's, followed
by something we have not seen in quite a while, a good soaking rain, with up to
2 inches of rain possible on Tuesday night and Wednesday. The precipitation will start as light snow,
sleet, freezing rain, or rain between 4 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday evening and will
change to light freezing rain in most locations, as the temperatures will drop
from the mid to upper 30’s to the low 30’s once the precipitation starts, except
possibly in extreme Northeast New Jersey.
The freezing rain will change to rain as temperatures start to warm
between 10 pm and midnight, however there could be an accumulation of ice on the roads in some locations before the changeover. The main concern would be that the timing of the freezing rain might coincide with the evening rush on Tuesday, so we need to keep a close eye on this. Rain will
then fall heavy at times during the morning hours on Wednesday prior to becoming light in
the afternoon. Then a bit of a second
wave may develop in the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday, bringing more
rain at the same time that the cold air starts to make its way back into our
area. If this second wave does indeed
develop the rain may start to change to snow between 7 pm and 10 pm from west
to east across our area, with the snow ending between 10 pm and midnight from
west to east, with a dusting of accumulation possible in extreme Northeast New
Jersey and a dusting to 2 inches possible in extreme Northwest New Jersey. It will then get quite cold for Thanksgiving
Day with a high only in the upper 20’s, followed by lows in the mid to upper
teens for Black Friday morning and a high in the low 30’s. Saturday will be
very cold with a low in the low to mid teens and a high in the upper 20’s. There will then be a chance of some light
snow next Sunday as a weak storm system approaches, followed by a chance for
some light rain or light snow next Monday. Next Tuesday and Wednesday another
Nor'easter may form and we will just have to wait and see the track of that
storm to know whether it will bring us rain or snow.
