Mid-Day European Model Update and American Model Snowfall Projection Map

Click here or on the picture below to view the latest snowfall output projection from the mid-day run of the American model.  This map details nearly precisely my current thoughts for what is most likely to happen with this storm.  I think the majority of the storm will be snow, but it will almost definitely mix with and possibly change to sleet and freezing rain late on Saturday night which will hold back the accumulations a bit, especially in northeast sections.  The highest totals, which could easily reach 8 inches would be over Northwestern Sussex County and the lowest totals will be near the Hudson River where 4-6 inches should fall.  So basically I am expecting a general 4-6 inches in Northeastern New Jersey with up to a quarter of an inch of ice and a general 6-8 over Northwestern New Jersey with up to a tenth of an inch of ice.  It should start as some light snow or flurries between 5 am and 7 am and will end prior to sunrise on Sunday morning.  The heaviest of the snow will occur between 4 pm and 11 pm.  The next storm to be concerned about will be on Tuesday when we could get a half of an inch to an inch of snow on both the morning and evening on Tuesday.  Then it will get quite warm with high temperatures into the 50's on Friday and into early Saturday before the bottom drops out later on Saturday morning.  On Saturday the model is projecting temperatures of near 60 degrees at 1 am on Saturday morning and at 7 am it has temperatures around 30 with rain on Friday night into Saturday morning, possibly changing to some light snow later on Saturday morning.  Then the storm that I thought was timed for next Monday may very well come a day early, next Sunday instead.  This storm may start out as snow or freezing rain, but then change to rain, but that is still a long way out, so let's see what happens.
