BEWARE!!! EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES REMAIN IN PLACE AND PRECIPITATION ON OUR DOORSTEPS!!!

Beware, clear skies are still in place in most of Northern and especially Northwestern New Jersey which has allowed temperatures to drop to the single digits, reaching 4 degrees a short while ago at my location.  At the same time, precipitation is creeping north into our area from central New Jersey.  To give you an idea of the craziness of this situation, there is another weather station about 3 blocks from my home that is 500 feet higher in elevation.  It is currently 5 degrees at my weather station in the valley and 22 at the weather station only a few blocks away.  The cold air has settled into the valley very nicely as the warm air is coming in aloft at the higher elevations first, so the freezing rain in the valleys could be substantial in areas where it moves in quickly this morning.  Temperatures will eventually rise above freezing this afternoon,but roads are likely to be extremely slippery for a time this morning.  If you plan on travelling this morning, be extremely careful or avoid travelling altogether this morning.  Remember, the ground is EXTREMELY COLD, so any rain will freeze immediately on contact until the temperatures rise above freezing this afternoon.
