Well, it is looking as if I was correct last night. The evolution of the Tuesday night and
Wednesday storm changed because another storm popped up on Monday and the
operational run of the European model wants to bring us a significant snowstorm
now on Monday morning. First though, for
the Super Bowl weekend the temperatures will be much warmer, with highs today
making it to the mid to upper 30’s, the low 40’s tomorrow, then the upper 40’s
on Sunday. There will however be a
chance for a shower on Sunday, possibly even during the game, although any rain
on Sunday would be very light. Any rain
showers, if we get any on Sunday would have a chance of changing to a snow shower
late at night. Then early on Monday
morning snow is likely to develop in our area, ending late in the morning. The snow could accumulate to 1-3 inches or
more depending upon how much this storm develops and the exact track that it
takes. The operational run of the
European model actually projected around 6 inches of snow throughout Northern
New Jersey for Monday morning on this morning’s run, but I am not ready to jump on that just yet. Let’s wait for one more run to see what
happens with this potential. Then on
Tuesday night more snow is likely to develop, possibly changing to sleet and
freezing rain late at night, then snow, sleet, or freezing rain, ending by
Wednesday afternoon with significant accumulations of both snow and ice likely
before possibly ending as rain. Then it
will get cold again for the end of next week prior to another storm approaching
with more snow for next Friday night and Saturday. Then going into the following week it will
remain cold, with more chances for snow for the middle and end of that
week. As I said previously, the month of February
is looking very cold and very snowy. I
will post a quick update this afternoon on the Monday potential snow after the
next run of the European model run comes out.
