Quick Update, Some Important Changes

First of all, the European model just threw us a surprise and at the last minute here has increased snowfall amounts to an inch to an inch and a half from roughly North and West of where Routes 78 and 287 meet, and areas to the south and east of that to around a half of an inch to an inch.  The snow looks to start some time around 5 am and end around 11 am.  Then for Saturday night, it now looks as if all of Northern New Jersey will receive around 2 inches of rain, as well as high temperatures in the mid to upper 50's.  This would lead to rapid snow melt to our north and ice jams breaking up like crazy.  2 inches of rain could lead to some problems as it is, as the ground is frozen and the water will only run off, so, combine this with the ice jams breaking up and this could lead to some very serious flooding problems in some locations on Saturday night and Sunday morning.  If you know anyone who lives or works in a flood prone location, please be on the lookout, as ice jam situations can lead to very serious flooding, with very little warning.  Then our Tuesday storm will again be rain and it will be heavy, likely bringing us another inch of rain along with strong winds.  A storm will then likely form off the coast on Wednesday and Thursday that would be snow this time if it were closer to the coast, but it should remain out to sea, missing us.  The next chances for snow look to be next Friday night and Sunday with the chance of a bit of light snow.
