Well, the National Weather Service went with a Winter
Weather Advisory for Northwest New Jersey today for 2-4 inches of snow and I
just don’t see that happening. I think
most areas will receive a half of an inch to an inch of snow, with some
locations possibly receiving as much as 1.5-2 inches but I just don’t think
anyone will get more than that. The snow
should start around 9 am to 1 pm from west to east and end between about 1 pm
and 5 pm from west east with just a chance of a snow shower after that. We will then have just a chance of a snow
shower on Monday. Then, it will be quite
cold on Tuesday morning with lows possibly below zero. And then all the questions arise as a storm
will likely start to develop in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. While no operational model currently shows
this storm affecting areas other than coastal sections of the Southeastern
United States on Tuesday into Wednesday morning, I believe it is very possible
we might be dealing with a somewhat similar situation to what happened a few
days ago here, especially for interior sections of the Southeastern United
States where they could end up getting quite a significant snowstorm if I am
correct. The big question is how far
north will this storm come up the coast?
Of this I am not at all certain, but I definitely think there is at
least a chance it could come far enough up the coast to affect us with at least
some snow on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
I will be keeping a very close eye on this situation as it has the
potential to surprise a large number of people along the Eastern Seaboard of
the United States on Tuesday into Wednesday.
Please understand that I am not
guaranteeing a snowstorm here, nor is it currently my forecast. I am just saying that it is a POSSIBILITY. It may or may not happen. Check back for updates. After this storm threat passes, we will have
a chance of a bit more snow on Thursday night into Friday morning that could
accumulate to a half of an inch to an inch.
Then for Super Bowl Weekend it now looks as if we could get some very
bad weather for Saturday night with light snow starting late in afternoon next
Saturday and changing to freezing rain at night. Luckily though the models have reverted back
to what they showed a week ago for Super Bowl Sunday with highs approaching 50
degrees and a chance of a shower. Then
for the following week it looks like a chance of showers the day after the Super
Bowl, then rain at night, with highs possibly reaching the mid 50’s next Monday
and Tuesday. Then the cold front may
move through, bringing the chance for rain or snow next Wednesday, and then
again for the following Saturday.
