Well, some places in our area did in fact get some snow this
morning as the storm kept on getting closer and closer to our area. Moving forward we will have just a slight
chance of a snow shower on Friday and again on Saturday morning. We will then have a slight chance of a rain
shower on Saturday night and again on Super Bowl Sunday. Then for the Super Bowl itself, it now looks
as if the cold front could be delayed, giving us a chance for a rain or snow
shower during the Super Bowl itself. It
will however be quite warm for the Super Bowl weekend with highs in the low 40’s
on Saturday and the mid 40’s on Sunday.
The temperature at game time should be in the mid 30’s, dropping to the
low 30’s during the game. Then on Monday
a weak storm system may develop along the front, giving us the chance for some
snow on Monday that could accumulate to 1-3 inches. Then the big storm will start to form on
Tuesday along the Gulf Coast. It will
then start to move in our direction, causing snow to develop on Tuesday
afternoon, likely becoming heavy at times at night and continuing through the
day on Wednesday and ending on Wednesday night.
At least 6-12 inches of accumulation will be likely with the possibility
for 12-18 inches or more. After this
storm passes it will get very cold again for the end of next week and then an
extremely intense storm is likely to develop off the Southeast Coast of the
United States on Saturday or Sunday. We
will have to keep a close eye on this storm to see if it comes far enough up
the coast to bring us another major storm for that Sunday, or if this is
another big one for our friends in the Deep South and in North Carolina.
