I am going to give the all clear through the day on Sunday
at this point, with the exception of the chance of a dusting of snow on
Saturday afternoon and again early on Sunday morning.
Late on Sunday or
early on Monday morning there will be a chance of some snow as a low pressure area
will approach the area. Whether or not
this storm can form into something more significant is yet to be determined, as
this is the potential storm we have been talking about for some time. The models were showing the possibility of
explosive development with this storm when it reaches the coast early on Monday
morning and that still remains a possibility, although at the moment there are
not many signs of this on the models.
For now, I will just put in the mention of a chance of light snow on
Monday morning, with a chance of a dusting to an inch or two of snow. I would suggest checking back here from time
to time just in case this once again turns into something more significant, as
we have had that happen several times this winter already.
Then, next Wednesday it looks as if a storm will develop in
the Gulf of Mexico and head northeast up the coast on Wednesday night and
Thursday, getting to a point near the Eastern end of Long Island by Thursday
night. This would cause snow to start
here early on Thursday morning, possibly becoming heavy at times prior to possibly
mixing with or changing to sleet and freezing rain, and possibly rain, before
ending in the afternoon. Significant
accumulations are possible with this storm.
Moving into next weekend we will have some unsettled weather
with a chance of snow showers, followed by another chance of snow for the
following Monday.
There are signs that the weather pattern may break, at least temporarily, toward the end of the two week period. We shall see.
