Quick Update

We will be getting a very significant snow and ice storm tonight into tomorrow, then what will it be for this weekend?  The American model on this latest run that just came in is producing a blizzard that would rival any of all-time in the Northern Middle Atlantic and Northeast, bringing intense blizzard conditions from Eastern Virginia, through Maryland, Delaware, the Eastern half of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Southeastern New York, and all of New England, with some snow as far south as Central North Carolina. This is the most intense yet that any model has depicted this potential storm.  On the other hand, the European, British, and Canadian models do not produce anywhere near as intense of a storm for next weekend, with those models showing only a weak storm bringing a little snow to the Northern Middle Atlantic and Northeast this weekend.  I will see what I can figure out for you with my full forecast later this morning by 8:00 am.  It is not uncommon for the models to lose storms in this range, only to bring them back, but there is no way to know for sure if that is what is happening with this storm.  Also, the models that lost the storm and the American models use a different data initialization system, so they will often show wildly different solutions.  To complicate things even more, the American model that just came out is the only model to run every six hours, all of the others run every 12 hours, so the latest run of the American model has the absolute latest data to work with and this model has been very consistent. It is however nearly impossible to tell which one is correct.  I will do my best.  I thought I finally got rid of this headache.  I feel it coming on again already.  More later.
